Job description
King’s College School Chengdu seeks to appoint talented, innovative and inspirational teachers of lower primary (Grades 1, 2 or 3) to contribute to the development of a new school that aspires to become one of the leading schools in Asia. The post-holder should blend creativity and rigour in the classroom, have a passion for the opportunities bilingual education provides for children and the motivation to work collaboratively with colleagues to propel our enthusiastic and hardworking pupils to excellent rates of development and progress.

Representing a new standard of bilingual education in China, the school will provide for both local and international pupils via an innovative model that will combine Chinese and western approaches to learning and academic excellence, culminating in IGCSE and A-level examinations, and will feature first-rate pastoral support and opportunities to excel outside the classroom. Our goal is to produce confident, articulate young people with a broad set of life skills who will go on to attend universities across the world.

The facilities at King’s will be outstanding and include a 600-seat theatre, 130-seat black box theatre, dance studio, first-class laboratories, sports fields, basketball and tennis courts, a 400m running track, an Olympic 50m indoor pool, and a fitness and weight training suite. Our iconic new campus will be located to the north east of the city centre, with beautiful hills and open green spaces surrounding it. The district is being developed for high-end residential projects and as an area for leisure and tourism.

Job requirements

The post-holder will place emphasis on both learning and innovation within a curriculum that caters for the needs of all pupils. Delivering the Chinese National Curriculum Teachers are involved in designing and delivering the curriculum and play an active role in the school’s strong and supportive pastoral care system, where every child is prized as an individual. Teachers will be an essential part of our broad and exciting co-curricular programme at King’s College School Chengdu, offering activities that reflect their own interests as well as those of the children.

An excellent CPD programme will be available at the school, which will include regular in-house training, leadership development courses and professional development workshops organised in collaboration with our partners at King’s College School, Wimbledon.
