Chemistry Teacher – Nanjing, China – ASAP Start

An established British international school in Nanjing, China is seeking an experienced Chemistry Teacher for an ASAP start.

This is an excellent opportunity for a strong Science specialist to teach Chemistry at IGCSE and A-Level within an academically ambitious international school following the English National Curriculum.

The Role

The successful candidate will join an established secondary Science department, teaching Chemistry to students preparing for internationally recognised examinations.

The school offers a rigorous IGCSE programme at Key Stage 4, with Science forming an important part of the core curriculum, before students progress into a specialist A-Level programme in Sixth Form.

The successful teacher will be expected to combine excellent subject knowledge with engaging classroom practice, helping students develop a strong understanding of Chemistry alongside the analytical, practical and problem-solving skills required for success at IGCSE and A-Level.

There is a strong academic focus, and the school is particularly interested in teachers who can demonstrate a track record of achieving excellent examination outcomes.

What We're Looking For

Applicants should have a recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE with QTS, B.Ed or equivalent, alongside a relevant degree in Chemistry or a closely related subject.

You should have:

• Successful secondary Science teaching experience
• Strong Chemistry subject knowledge
• Experience teaching Chemistry to IGCSE and/or A-Level
• A good understanding of examination preparation and assessment
• The ability to challenge high-achieving students while supporting different learning needs
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills

Experience within a British international school or the UK education system would be particularly advantageous.

The school follows the English National Curriculum from Early Years through to Sixth Form, culminating in IGCSE and A-Level qualifications. Its secondary approach combines academic rigour with critical thinking, creativity and independent learning.
