Job Title: Lead Teacher Reports to: Assistant Principal/Assistant Director of Academic Affairs

2. Job Purpose:

To lead and support a team of teacher in the development and implementation of the curriculum.

4. Key Result Areas:

KEY RESULT AREAS

> Facilitate the development and implementation of curriculum standards; lead the implementationand development of the Early Education & Care (EEC) program, and International BaccalaureatePrimary Years Program (PYP), Middle Years Program (MYP), and Diploma Program (DP), as appropriate

> Monitor and manage curriculum documents; ensure completeness of scope and sequence documents, and ensure that unit plans and lesson plans are updated as required

> Ensure that classroom environments and team areas provide a supportive learning environment, and reflect student work and the school culture

> Facilitate meetings that are focused on student learning, and model a collaborative planning process

> Collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure team planning reflects the school curriculum

> Advise teachers on a range of best teaching practices in their relevant disciplines

> Ensure the team utilizes best assessment practices; facilitate the sharing of best practice, including effective teaching and assessment methodologies

> Identify, collect and analyze data to inform school improvement activities and lead the development of goals and action plans for school improvement

> Monitor student progress across the team

> Foster and encourage team-building and shared decision-making among faculty

> Facilitate team professional development via the Professional Learning Continuum

> Evaluate and document teacher effectiveness via the QF ERP system

> Assist with orientation of new staff and substitute teachers, both school-wide and team-specific

> Lead a group of teachers in planning, implementing and assessing day to day instructional activities across a grade or curriculum area

> Serve as a resource for teachers who require additional instructional coaching

> Find needed instructional resources for programs across a grade or curriculum area

> Assist in the identification, development, and attainment of grade or curriculum-wide goals

> Advise school coordinators on the efficient and effective use of resources to meet identified school-wide improvement goals

> Lead small groups in work on school accreditation and authorization activities

> Facilitate communication between team and other teachers, administrators, students, community members, and more; serve as a resource for parents

> Facilitate the team’s budget planning and ordering of materials by preparing OPEX and CAPEX orders; ensure accessibility and facilitate sharing among the team

> Work in partnership with parents in providing a quality education experience for all the children. > Along with all members of the staff, undertake responsibilities as detailed in the school’s Health and Safety Manual. > Accept additional responsibilities in respect of organizing and supervising co-curricular activities. > Actively promote the mission, vision and values of the school. > Accept reasonable additional responsibilities as required by the Director. > Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons according to PUE and regulatory safeguarding requirements including but not limited to the provisions of the PUE Child Protection Policy > Other reasonable tasks as assigned by supervisor

The majority of work is carried out in a standard school environment.

6. Communications and Working Relationships:

> Administrators – contact as needed to communicate on curricular and instructional issues > Teachers – frequent contact to provide guidance and support, and to evaluate work quality > Parents – contact as needed regarding any issues with teachers as well as student progress > Administrators, Coordinators and Team – frequent contact on curriculum development & implementation, school improvement, logistics, and teacher supervision & evaluation

7. Problem Solving & Complexity:

> Evaluates different options when solving problems > Refrains from jumping to conclusions in the absence of clear evidence, takes time to collect facts before developing a solution > Considers the medium term as well as immediate short-term impact of outcomes and actions > Demonstrates an awareness of the impact of preferred solution on other projects/ related problems

8. Decision-Making Authority & Responsibility:

> Accepts responsibility / accountability for own decisions and explains the rationale > Reviews available information in conjunction with interested parties and arrives at decisions by consensus judging degree of consultation needed to ensure commitment > Remains calm and resourceful when making difficult decisions, basing them on facts > Ensures decisions are taken by self and group after reviewing available information whilst exhibiting reasonable foresight

9. Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

> Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field > 4 years of relevant full-time teaching experience > Strong knowledge and understanding of the EEC, PYP, MYP and DP programs, as relevant > Outstanding interpersonal, leadership, and negotiation skills > Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills > Excellent writing skills, with the ability to draft and edit a variety of written reports and communications and articulate ideas clearly and concisely; proficiency in Arabic an advantage > Computer literacy (word-processing, spreadsheets, etc.)

Dependent on lifestyle and extent of travel, however, there are potential savings; e.g. - Single teacher = up to $25,000 - Couple (Both teaching) with 2 children = up to $40,000

End of Service Bonus
One month's basic salary for each completed year of service based upon final monthly basic salary.

Economy class tickets in connection with annual leave to the nearest international airport in your home country, and one way Economy class ticket at the start and end of the contract.
Transport Allowance paid with the monthly salary.

Education for Dependents
The Foundation will provide Education assistance for four eligible dependent children between the age levels prescribed for Pre 3 up to and including Grade 12 as per Pre University Education policy.
Coverage – 13 academic years for children who have not reached their 18th birthday; OR completed high school (whichever is later).
Eligibility – children who are living with their family in Qatar and of 3-18 years of age or in senior year of high school studying a formally recognized curriculum approved by the Ministry of Education
