We are looking for well qualified and inspirational teachers who empathise with the academic and
holistic ethos found in top UK and International Schools; and who will wish to become fully involved
with both pastoral care and co-curricular activity within the school. Previous overseas experience is
not essential. However, the desire to work in a genuinely international community is.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Accountable to: Head of PE Faculty and Head of Sport (Curriculum)

SALARY
The salary is calculated according to experience and qualifications, based on the JIS Salary Scale. The
salary is paid tax free. A gratuity will also be payable at the end of the renewable contract. Teachers
also benefit from accommodation allowance, health insurance, an annual flight allowance and a
contribution to relocation expenses.

REQUIREMENTS
Physical Education staff required for a large, well resourced Faculty. Applicants should state any
particular strengths and extra curricular preferences. The Faculty covers both Primary and Secondary
age groups and some teaching may be available in the Secondary section. Opportunities are available
to contribute towards the further development of the Faculty.

The school is part of the FOBISIA group and takes part in annual sporting competitions around South
East Asia. The department is proactive in organising sport in Brunei and therefore a strong commitment
to the schools extensive extra curricular and House sporting programme is required.

Furthermore, we expect our teachers to fully commit to the holistic ethos of the school and to contribute
toward the development of our whole school aims; Thinking Skills, Language, Active Engagement,
Leadership, Participation and Integration.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
The candidate will be expected

  • To plan and teach Physical Education and Games to students in the areas of Games, Athletics,
  • Swimming, Gymnastics and Dance
  • To work in a team of Physical Education teachers and coaches and to support the team in
  • delivering and developing curriculum and maintain teaching resources and equipment.
  • To attend and contribute at departmental and whole school meetings
  • To undertake the role of Form Tutor
  • To run extra curricular practices
  • The candidate will also be expected to undertake both form tutor and co-curricular responsibilities in addition to their classroom teaching
