Humanities Teacher – Doha, Qatar – Immediate Start

Middle East, Qatar

A well-established international school in Doha, Qatar is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Humanities Teacher for an immediate start.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified secondary teacher with experience in History, Geography or Humanities to join a school delivering a British-based curriculum within an international setting.

The Role

The successful candidate will join the secondary teaching team and deliver engaging Humanities lessons that encourage students to understand the world around them, explore different perspectives and develop strong analytical and independent-thinking skills.

The school follows a curriculum based on the National Curriculum for England, with students progressing through Key Stage 3 and into internationally recognised examination pathways.

Humanities forms part of a broad secondary curriculum designed not only to develop subject knowledge, but also to encourage curiosity, critical thinking and an understanding of different cultures and global issues.

The school is looking for a teacher who can make Humanities relevant and engaging, encouraging students to question, investigate, discuss and form well-supported conclusions.

Who Are We Looking For?

Applicants should ideally have:

  • A recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE with QTS, B.Ed or equivalent
  • A relevant degree in History, Geography, Humanities or a related subject
  • Experience teaching Humanities at secondary level
  • Strong subject knowledge
  • Experience of the British curriculum
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills
  • A commitment to high academic expectations and student progress
  • Availability to relocate to Qatar at short notice

Experience teaching History or Geography to IGCSE level would be particularly advantageous.

The School

The school provides a broad and balanced education combining academic challenge with a strong emphasis on students' personal development.

Within the secondary phase, teachers are encouraged to create purposeful learning experiences that develop independence, resilience and higher-level thinking. Assessment and academic data are used to identify individual needs, provide appropriate support and ensure students continue to make progress.

The wider curriculum also encourages students to develop an awareness of their place within both their local community and an increasingly interconnected world.

For a Humanities teacher, this provides an interesting environment in which to combine strong subject teaching with opportunities to develop students' understanding of contemporary issues, cultures and societies.

Living and Teaching in Qatar

Doha has a large and established international education sector and offers teachers the opportunity to combine valuable overseas experience with tax-free earnings and a modern Gulf lifestyle.
