Middle East, Qatar, Doha
A British international school in Doha, Qatar is seeking an experienced MFL Teacher specialising in French and Spanish for an immediate start.
This is a particularly interesting opportunity for a languages teacher who enjoys teaching across both primary and secondary and understands how to build a coherent language curriculum from children's first introduction to a foreign language through to GCSE/IGCSE.
The school is particularly interested in candidates with strong Spanish expertise who can also teach French confidently.
Teaching Languages from Primary to GCSE
The successful teacher will work with students across a broad age range.
French is introduced from Year 1, giving younger children their first experience of language learning, before Spanish is introduced from Year 3. Students then continue developing their language skills as they progress through primary and secondary school.
The school is therefore looking for more than a secondary examination teacher. You should understand how children acquire languages at different ages and be able to build progression in speaking, listening, reading and writing over time.
At primary level, lessons should make language learning enjoyable, accessible and highly communicative. As students progress through secondary school, teaching should increasingly develop accuracy, vocabulary, grammar and independent communication, ultimately preparing students for GCSE/IGCSE language study.
Who We're Looking For
Applicants should hold a recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE with QTS, B.Ed or equivalent, alongside a relevant degree.
The ideal candidate will have:
This vacancy would particularly suit someone who has previously worked in a school where French begins in KS1 and an additional language is introduced during KS2, although candidates with closely comparable experience are also encouraged to apply.
Immediate Start in Qatar
This is an immediate-start vacancy, so candidates who are currently available or able to relocate to Doha at short notice are particularly encouraged to apply.
The successful teacher will have the opportunity to influence language learning across a substantial part of the school, helping students progress from their earliest French lessons through to confident secondary-level language study.
If you are an experienced French and Spanish Teacher with strong Spanish expertise and experience teaching languages across primary and secondary, apply through Teaching Abroad Direct for consideration.
