The British Council in Bangladesh is recruiting for 30 Teacher trainers to join the Training of Master Trainers in English (TMTE) project.
The project and your role
The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education (MoPME) in Bangladesh is undertaking a major new sector wide reform programme in Primary Education. One of the quality initiatives under this reform aims to upgrade the English language proficiency and teaching skills of teachers of English at primary level throughout Bangladesh.
As a teacher trainer, you will get an opportunity to enhance the primary-level in-service English teacher education in Bangladesh by developing a cadre of 1800 Master Trainers. These Master Trainers will have a defined role within the education system, supporting primary teachers across Bangladesh to improve their teaching and English language skills. The British Council Teacher Trainers will work in pairs in 15 Primary Teachers’ Training Institutes (PTIs) and will work a five-day week (5 contact hours/day), on overlapping schedules (Sun-Thu / Sat-Wed) to cover the six-day week of local teachers. The training delivery will be in three 14-week block over a 12-month period. There will be a 3-week induction programme prior to placement and a 1 week wrap up post delivery for a total of a 13-month contract.
