Kazakhstan is the largest and wealthiest central Asian country situated inland sharing its boarders with many countries including Russia and China.
The government actively welcomes foreign investment towards Kazakhstan which allied to the development of its own vast oil and gas reserves has brought a considerable wealth which has helped to establish itself globally as a middle-income country with a high human development index which is good news for teachers seeking work as schools will be academically driven.
Kazakhstan is a multicultural country with a healthy mix of ethnicities from surrounding countries as well as western expatriats who are mainly based in the capital city Astana or Almaty which is the largest city. Russian is the official language in Kazakhstan with the biggest majority followed by Kazakh which is more widely spoken by natives in rural areas.
Infustracture and transport in both cities are of a high modern standard with a clean and punctual service particularly when travelling by train. Buses can be busy but thankfully taxis are very cheap in Kazakhstan and most expats have no problem paying the relatively small fare to go where they wish.
